Today happens to be the birthday of my friend Ritu and we thought we should give her a great birthday suprise. I had given ideas to give her a suprise party for her at her house at midnight, that is, the eve of her birthday. Well the plan is to get the gang together by 11 and get going to her place with the cake and then enter into her house, nope, not by the gate, by jumping the wall or in more crude sense, break into the house and suprise her. Yeah. Literally we were trying to surprise her. It was in the evening and I and ram had planned to get the gift for Ritu. She is a complete baribie freak. At 21, we thought it was wierd to get a barbie for her but that is what she likes and so that is what we thought we should buy her and we did just that. We bought her the barbie she would yearn for. ANyway we got the gang together as planned broke in the gave her the gift proceeded by a loud shout of “suprise” followed by the cake and then smashing the cake on her face and then literally making her parents hit the ceiling with all that noise. But that is what friendship and surprise parties are all about.

I had this written in Feb itself but I thought it needed time to put this back here. Cos it is with our minds that we forget moments that haunted us and for a ganguly fan this is one of those times, where you felt betrayed. This is to kindle your spirit and to make you remember what happened.
Sourav Ganguly was the notable omission from India’s 16-member squad for the tri-nation CB Series, which starts on February 3, and the solitary Twenty20 international at the MCG on February 1. There was no recall either for Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman for the tournament, which also features Australia and Sri Lanka, with the selectors putting the emphasis on youth. It is believed that the captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, wanted to stick with a majority of the squad that won the World Twenty20 last September. Explaining why Ganguly was overlooked, BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah said, “The emphasis was on fielding abilities and they [the team management] wanted a young fielding side for the series. That’s why you see a lot of youngsters in the side.” After a run of three half-centuries in four matches against England last year, Ganguly has managed 231 runs at 25.66 in nine innings. a plea to ganguly! dear dada, one can but stand back in awe and remember your glorious comeback into international cricket with reverence. it is the greatest blemish of indian cricket and the B.C.C.I that your fairy tale comeback must be thwarted to a sudden stand still.at this juncture that we must feel sad that the cricketing fraternity has been forced to miss the spectacle of you beating the Aussies all around the park in their own dockyards. by not picking you up in the squad for Australia is the greatest blunder of the decade that has been committed by any cricketing organization. so on behalf of all your die hard fans and admirers all the world over, i pray to god and to you to stage yet another comeback of the same nature, if not one better! let the god of the off side rule over us once more!

i hv always had a passion for football. i dunno why but i just love the sport more than anything else in the world. and i don’t really care what others think of me or about how fit or unfit i look or how tan i become because of playing the game i love.
wat set me apart from others is that i hv the ability to pick out moves and passes which the rest of the 21 players on the field don’t generally do.
but thats not what am here to talk about…………
ever since i started playing the game, i always longed to have a team under my control. i was no Hitler and i enforced no strict disciple… i was someone who looked for skill and utility rather than reputation and brawn… this made me unearth many quality players for my college team…
once i saw potential in anyone, i wud back them up fervently… this attitude of mine has brought me into numerous quarrels with my batch mates and with our physical directors….
i lost a few friends… but the respect i gained from those for whom i lent my support was what i cared about…
and always, there was this commitment to give something back to the game!
it had always been a burning desire for me to captain my side at least for a game.
twice in my final year i had given my time and expertise in building up competitive teams.. and on both occasions, i gave up captaincy to saravana even though most of the side wanted me to do duty..
recently- in fact yesterday, when the match was about to start and the teams lined up, the referee called out the 2 captains for the toss…. and saravana took the step forward and i was by his side… the juniors were looking at me shell shocked , for they had expected me to do duty..
for the record, we won the tournament and i was instrumental in the victory.. it was my passes that set up the goals… and also the penalty i took that ebbed the team’s sagging morale in the finals…
after the match, when someone asked me why i was not captain, kiran summed it up beautifully as he said, ” saravana is an excellent player…. and more importantly our wonderful friend… so mouli has no problems against him being captain”
wat he said was 100% true!!! and thats how much i value friendship….
am not the most expressive but thro this post, feel proud that u are my friend and feel happy that u are valued

Rajasthan Royals captained by Shane Warne were the under dogs of the Indian Premier League, especially the way they lost to the Delhi Daredevils. Every one thought that it would be a piece of cake fo KIings XI Punjab to beat this team but they pulled over a complete suprise upset, when the team beat Punjab. Excellent bowling by Shane Warne and some quality batting from Shane Watson and Ravindra Jadeja helped the team win the match and improve their moral. This win was something unexpected and came as quite a surprise to the team captain himself. The other upset the Indian Premier League saw a couple of days back was the impressive win by Royal Challengers against the Mumbai Indians. The dismal show by the Royal Challengers in their first match against Kolkata Knight riders mad brought upon a poor image of them with the crowd. But then again they won the match against the Mumbai side, which clearly lacked a defined captain in HArbhajan Singh. May be there would have been a change of decision the other day, had Sachin Tendulkar been in the tean. Thanks to a groin injury which had kept him out of the match.

Today was the match between the Chennai Super kings and the Kings 11 Punjab teams. I knew from the start that this was going to be an exciting encounter as it had some of my favorite players in both the teams. And chennai being my home city, the Chennai super Kings team was a personal favorite for me and Dhoni was the captain of the team. The team lost the toss and were made ti field by the Punjab Tean headed By Yuvraj Singh and they made a prettyr espectable total and the Super Kings team were put to bat and the batting order started to collapse at the start but was later kind of taking control and it took complete control when Hussey came into bat. From then on there was no stopping him and he smashed the balls all over the ground until Super Kings team from Chennai won the match. Though it was good to see my home city winning the match, I was pretty disappointed to see Priety Zinta sad as Punjab was her team. She has bought the IPL franchise of the Punjab team along with Ness wadia. But that is what a sport is all about. Sometime You win and sometimes you lose. All that matters is the spirit of the game and the players really played a decent game of cricket.
